The start
It all begins with an idea…
Hopping in a time machine and going back to the Spring of 2017, a good friend of mine, Will Gibson, and I became what we called “The Outdoor Operators.” We were in college, so naturally, this consisted of drinking whiskey and making the best of a sleeping bag next to a campfire at deer camp. Those “Outdoor Operators” lit a fire in my soul for the outdoors and ultimately created what I now call ArkHoma Adventures.
Quite honestly, Will is the largest reason for my outdoor passion. Our friendship began in 2016 when I showed up to my new fraternity house in Stillwater with a bad attitude and questioning myself why. I was fresh back from a year-long stint of time with the Air Force. I had left immediately after high school and went to basic, technical training, and then a handful of temporary duty assignments at various air bases. So I showed up to college with a year of experience and maturity on the peers in my class.
Funny enough, Will had done this exact same thing for the Army, but a year before me. We bonded quickly and became inseparable. From school to work to the gym to the deer woods, we did it all. We would skip class and shoot our bows for hours. We began hunting together on public and family land, and this is when the passion really solidified. We wanted to be outdoorsmen for life.
Fast forward 10 years and we are still outdoorsmen, still work together, and still get plenty of face time. Unfortunately, our dreams of being the “Outdoor Operators” never played out publicly or became our jobs, but did remain our hobby.
To be continued…
